Yaesu FT-450 Review. Digital mode PSK31

by admin on September 7, 2010

This is just a quick review of my Yaesu FT-450′s easy ability to get right into the PSK31 field of Amateur Radio. I run a very simple setup as you will see in the movie, Simple audio cables and a small speaker left next to a mic with VOX on for transmit. I have not uploaded many videos the past while, Ive been very busy with work and trying to wrap up projects for Field day this weekend coming up! I will be working the entire 24 hour window of field day, + early morning setup getting antenna’s up and raising Di-poles. I hope you enjoy the video, Ill hopefully be doing many more about this radio as I love it!

the Airhogs Sharpshooter is a 2 channel coaxial Infrared Controlled Helicopter. This means you can make it fly up and down and turn left and right. It flies forward on its own at a very slow rate allowing you to line up your shot. It can Carry 2 missiles In its lunch bays, pressing the fire button on the transmitter causes one of the 2 missiles to fire so you get 2 shots before you need to reload. The missiles shoot about 10 feet. It cost 34.99 and is sold at places like Toys R Us Target and Wal-Mart. The package includes the 2 channel helicopter 6 missiles and 3 cardboard targets. The helicopter flies for 5 to 7 minutes and recharges in about 30 minutes.

Spektrum DSM technology has eliminated many of the old headaches and hassles RC enthusiasts had to deal with. Whether you are into cars, helicopters, trucks or airplane, there’s a Spektrum solution for you. But what about boats? Up to this point, using a Spektrum receiver in a boat wasn’t recommended as an optimal solution. That is until now. Spektrum has announced their Marine series of equipment that is designed and tested specifically with the needs of RC boaters in mind. This new gear, made up of the new MR3000 receiver and updated DX3S transmitter, provides the same quality RF link and connectivity that Spektrum has become known for. We managed to get some time with this new gear in one of our favorite boats, the Pro Boat Formula FASTech. This brushless boat can eat up a lot of real estate in a short amount of time. We also got some key installation tips and tricks from Spektrum’s surface guru, Blake Good, before taking the Formula FASTech out for some testing. Check out our video below for all the info on this latest innovation from Spektrum. Questions? Comments? Just a quick review of of the Radioshack PRO-164 radio scanner. I’m still learning how to use it to listen to the police but it picks up airports, fire dept, public safety, etc just fine. I bought a telescoping antenna and an external magnetic mounted antenna for use in my car. DISCLAIMER: I am not an attorney and I’m not giving legal advice. I live in Michigan and the scanner law in Michigan is you can have one in your private vehicle as long as you’re not a felon (unless you have an amateur radio license) and as long as it is not used in the commission of a crime. All things considered, this scanner does take some time to figure out and get used to but it serves it’s purpose and works just fine. NOTE: This radio does NOT come with an external wall adapter cord. I discovered that if you have a wall adapter for a PSP, you can use it for your scanner. UPDATE: I figured a few things out with this. The ATT button (when activated) will not pick up weaker signals. When it is off, you can hear some weak signals but make out what they are saying. Pushing “PRG” (Program) after pushing MAN, will let you manually input a frequency on a bank and it will scan that bank. More to come. UPDATE: This video is almost a year old since I posted it. It was 3 months old before I posted it. Much has changed and I probably won’t be posting any more videos anytime soon with this thing.

The Kung-Fu Panda “Sermon” Review (Fighting for the Faith)

June 13, 2010

This is an episode of Chris Rosebrough’s Fighting for the Faith that I was on back in December of last year. While the show has many humorous parts, the problem is a very serious one. When we try to be “culturally relevant” by incorporating what the culture already uses and disposes of on a daily [...]
