HorizonRC.com Preview- Spektrum DX5e

by admin on March 9, 2010

Spektrum has just introduced a new very easy to use and very affordable full-range 2.4ghz radio. The dx5e brings sport RC modelers the unbeatable control of DSM2 technology in a radio with the simplest, easiest-to-use system available. RC pilots from park flier, trainer up to more advanced models now have a system specifically designed for their needs. Probably the most amazing thing is the $99.95 price tag for the transmitter and receiver combination. This truly makes it a radio for anyone wanting to get started flying RC models and have the latest technology in their hands from the very beginning. The new AR500 receiver included with the dx5e system is small enough for any park flier while providing the versatility to fly all kinds of sport models needing up to 5 channels while also providing for dual aileron servo installations. Erin Jesswein from Spektrum Radios and product developer of the dx5e has been kind enough to join us for a preview of the features that the dx5e offers. Please follow along our video with Erin and see just what the dx5e is all about.

Ah, ok, yes there is EPA in the DX6i, I believe it’s in the travel adjust screen. I don’t have my radio in front of me so I am going off memory.

I’m sorry, I got a dx6i, but I still can’t find EPA in the manual. Can HI/Lo rate adjustment be used to serve the same pourpose as EPA?

HorizonRCdotCom March 9, 2010 at 7:38 pm

It has a High/Low rate adjustment but that’s about it.

Hello there, I just got one of these, but I have no experience at all with airplane radios, I’m using it for a rock crawler, do you know if it has epa like land radios? I’ve gone through the inst. book, but no luck.

would any one know the range difference between the dx5e with the ar500

and a Futaba 4YF with a hitec Micro 05S ???

Better to have one radio that takes care of everything for a lessor price than buying multiple radios…

lazyboyalex12 March 9, 2010 at 10:09 pm

the dx6i is really expensive

HorizonRCdotCom March 9, 2010 at 10:54 pm

If you’re going to get into this quite a bit I’d actually suggest going with a DX6i, that way you have multiple-model memory

lazyboyalex12 March 9, 2010 at 11:54 pm

one more question should i buy the RTF or the BNF and buy the DX5e

HorizonRCdotCom March 10, 2010 at 12:08 am

Yes you can. We have made a binding video to show how to bind an mSR or mCX to a DX6i for example. The steps are the same. YouTube doesn’t allow placing links in comments so I can’t post a link. Search on our page though and you should find it.

So you can bind with a ultramicro p51 can you make a vid on how to bind

HorizonRCdotCom March 10, 2010 at 12:31 am

Yes you can

lazyboyalex12 March 10, 2010 at 12:52 am

Can you BNF with the ultra micro p51

lazyboyalex12 March 10, 2010 at 1:24 am

Can you bind and fly with it

Nile505 March 10, 2010 at 1:56 am

my ar500 wont stop making this high pitched tone after it initializes. All the control surfaces work and the motor runs just fine but the reciever whines! It is a solid light and does everything that the manual says it should do. But it whines.

It’s not designed for use with a car. There’s no throttle return springs on the left stick. You also don’t have a way to inhibit the left/right movement of the left stick or the up/down movement of the right.

smidge146 March 10, 2010 at 3:32 am

Can you use this with a car?

HorizonRCdotCom March 10, 2010 at 4:04 am

You would. If you’re looking for something for multiple planes I’d really recommend something like a DX6i or DX7.

coolbet13 March 10, 2010 at 4:06 am

so if I was to use this radio for more than one plane I would have to bind it to the different planes before I flew? I want to buy a new radio to use with multiple planes
